New: try Calometer without creating an account
Until recently, visiting Calometer with no account meant one thing: a login screen. You couldn't see what the app actually did until you'd already committed to signing up. That's changed.
What's new
The homepage now lets you search the real food catalogue — the same one the app itself searches — and see actual calories and macros per 100g, with no account needed. It also shows a labelled example of what a photo scan result looks like, so you can see the feature before trusting it with a camera.
There's a short "how it works" walkthrough (search or snap a photo, review the estimate, it's in your diary) and an honest number for the catalogue size — 100+ foods, sourced and labelled, not a rounded-up marketing figure.
What's still signed-in only, and why
Live USDA and Open Food Facts lookups, and real photo scans, stay behind an account. Both call external services that cost money per request and need a quota to stay sane, so they're not open to anonymous traffic yet. The catalogue search is different: it's a read from Calometer's own database, with no per-call cost, so there was no real reason to keep it locked away from a visitor just looking around.
Try it now
Head to the homepage and search for a food you eat often — no sign-up, no commitment. If you like what you see, creating an account is what lets you save it to your own diary and start tracking for real.
